Education Forums
Education forums can be the place where you share much of the information you create. Simply, education forums can be talks, seminars or speeches you give about the Census at places like a temple, church, group meeting, cultural event, school or wherever you can best reach your community. It doesn’t have to be an event especially designed for Census work; you can create an ‘educational forum’ by being present at an already planned event or at a place where many in your community might visit. Some examples:
- Host a specific “Census” event
- The Bhutanese Complete Count Committee has decided to have a youth debate contest, where the Bhutanese youth can talk about the Census and educate those in attendance;
- Have a table of booth at an already planned event
- OCA-GA had a Census table at their annual Career Fair where they distributed materials and discussed the importance of Census to those at the Fair
- Make a presentation at a board meeting, at your church, at a community fair, etc. You can also do it over the radio, television, online etc.
- ACCC attended the board meeting of the Korean American Association of Greater Atlanta to give a talk on the importance of the Census
- Through the outreach of the Vietnamese Complete Count Committee, several Vietnamese pastors in Georgia have “preached” Census in the pulpits
- The Bhutanese Complete Count Committee talks about Census 2010 every Friday on their weekly radio talk show on 1420 AM
